Get involved!

Tasks that need doing

Thanks for stopping by.  We are always looking for people to help us with specific tasks.  We want you to feel involved and useful with just an hour or two (or more if you want!) a month.

Most, but not all, of the jobs require access to the internet or a phone.

Have a look and see if there’s anything you can and want to do. If there is, please email the contact listed for that task BEFORE doing anything.

Manchester Social Centre is a 100% volunteer run project, so you will not be paid for your time. We usually don’t pay expenses under normal circumstances…

Finding Buildings

We have some money, now we need a building! To find out exactly what we’re looking for in a building, contact Paul at sonofjoseph [at] hotmail.com  Simple and quick

Financial Forecasting

If you have experience with finance forecasts, or know your way around a spreadsheet, we need your skills! Contact Mel for more info (mel.sev [at] hotmail.fr). Complex and quick (or lengthy if you have time)

Writing a business plan

In order to get permission to run a bar etc, we need to be able to provide a detailed ‘club operating schedule’ which includes things like: the activities of the club; the times the activities are to take place; the steps that the club propose to take to promote the licensing objectives etc. If you want to help us write this, contact Gaz (moorman86 [at] gmail.com). Complex and quick (again, can be lengthy if you have time)

Regulations

On top of the above we will also need to prove that we comply with all sorts of rules and regulations such as fire risk assessments, health and safety policy, food hygeine. If this sounds like your cup of tea, contact Johno (johnospindry [at] hotmail.co.uk ). Simple and quick.

Finally

If there isn’t anything on this list you fancy, but you still want to do something, get in touch  via the ‘Contact’  page on this website!

In order to make your life easier and pick the right task for you we have used the following categories:

A simple job requires basic computer literacy and a mild tolerance for boredom.

A complex job probably requires prior knowledge of the issue and/or specialist skills.

A quick job is less than two hours (sometimes a lot less!) and a lengthy job is more than two hours/open-ended.

So that gives four types of tasks:

  • simple and quick
  • complex and quick
  • simple and lengthy
  • complex and lengthy
